Confirmation

Candidate Participation Masses
Considering Confirmation in 2019?
An Overview of the Confirmation Preparation for 2017/2018:

The 9:00 a.m. Mass on the 1st Sunday of each month from (November to March) is set aside as a Confirmation Candidate Participation Mass.  Upon arrival at the church, you are invited to come and sit with the other candidates in the front pews on the right side of the church (the side in front of the statue of Mary.) If you have signed up to help with one of the ministries, please sit on the end of a pew by the centre aisle.

To help prepare you for Confirmation, you are asked to try to participate in one of the ministries for at least one of the Masses. You can choose to:

  • read the 2nd reading (an adult lector will read the 1st reading and will direct you where to sit and when to read, etc.  I will send you the reading ahead of time, and if you like, we can meet one day at the church to practice)

  • read the petitions (I will be there to help you know when to go to the lectern.)

  • be an usher and help with the collection baskets (the adult ushers are great about showing you what to do)

  • be an usher and give out bulletins after Mass (see above)

  • assist at the Children's Liturgy of the Word (when the children are dismissed after the Opening prayers of the Mass, you go downstairs with the adult catechist and "model correct behaviour "for the children! You will return with them to Mass at the Offertory.)

  • be a gift bearer (follow the altar servers and carry the cruets of water and wine or the ciborium for the bread at the Offertory procession)

This link will open a Google spreadsheet so that you can sign up for a ministry at the next Candidate Participation Mass.
