Retreats for Primary Students (grades 1-3)

These retreats follow the method of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, an approach to faith formation that seeks to answer the child’s silent request: “Help me come closer to God by myself.”

We gather in the Parish Office with a group of about 12 students and 2 or 3 catechists.

Advent Retreat

Away from the hustle and bustle of Christmas preparations, children and catechists gather to listen to scripture, to pray and to sing. Together we consider some of the Messianic prophecies and infancy narratives, and we contemplate “Who is this Jesus we celebrate?” Children who have attended in previous years delve deeper into scripture and are shown new passages.

  •   4 Monday evenings: November 27, December 4, 11, 18

  •   6:30 - 7:45 p.m.

Paschal Retreat

The Paschal Mystery retreat takes place over four evenings, two in Lent and two in the Easter season. We consider the events surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus, our Good Shepherd. After listening to scripture, we reflect and pray in words and through our individual work, drawn or written.

  •   4 Monday evenings: March 19 and 26 (Lent), April  2 and 9 (Easter)

  •   6:30 - 7:45 p.m.
